The United States Department of Labor Division of Coal Mine Workers’ Compensation (DCMWC) has partnered with the University of Illinois at Chicago to provide a training program titled: Black Lung Disability Evaluation and Claims Training for Medical Examiners

This training is being developed as a set of four modules:

  • Spectrum of Disease of Coal Mine Dust Lung Disease (CMDLD)
  • Diagnosis of CMDLD
  • Measuring Respiratory Impairment and Digital Chest Imaging
  • Evaluating Causation and Disability

This is a ‘first-of-its-kind’ opportunity for medical providers to take free, formal, online training specifically related to conducting disability evaluations for the DCMWC Black Lung Program, while earning continuing medical education (CME) credits (4 Category 1 American Medical Association (AMA) CME credits, awarded after completion of all four modules).
